SQUID
Squid is a series of pieces for the LED KIMONO that emulates, reflects, and interprets real-time environmental input, both physically close and/or remote proximity environments. Using video camera input, the LED KIMONO interprets the image and adapts the pixels’ information to the complex customized grid of the LED KIMONO. Like a giant squid’s legendary camouflage ability to imitate and internalize the physical environment to confuse predators, Led re-interprets the video input and reflects the world around it on the multi-surfaced and undulating cloth of the kimono.
Sound
For Squid, sound processing techniques will be employed that integrate interactivity, granular synthesis, rate of change, Spear frequencies, the harmonic spectrum in various capacities; techniques capturing areas of harmonic movement and relating those rates of the input of the environment and rates of change in various processing activity. These rates of change and movement will serve as an aural interpretation of the physiological, visually imitative behavior of squid.
